Plagiarism Policy

DEVOTION: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. All manuscripts submitted to DEVOTION must be original works, must not have been previously published, and must not be simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

Similarity Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening as part of the initial editorial assessment before proceeding to the peer-review stage. DEVOTION uses Turnitin or other reliable similarity-detection tools to assist the Editorial Team in evaluating the originality of submitted manuscripts.

As a general guideline, manuscripts are expected to have an overall similarity index of no more than 20%, excluding references, properly quoted material, and other academically acceptable similarities where applicable.

However, the similarity percentage is not used as the sole basis for an editorial decision. The Editorial Team evaluates the nature, source, distribution, and context of the identified similarities. A manuscript with a similarity index below 20% may still be rejected if plagiarism, inappropriate text recycling, duplicate publication, or other unethical practices are identified.

Forms of Plagiarism and Unethical Similarity

DEVOTION does not tolerate plagiarism or other forms of inappropriate use of intellectual work, including but not limited to:

  • copying another author's words, ideas, or arguments without proper attribution;

  • inappropriate paraphrasing without appropriate citation;

  • unauthorized use of data, figures, tables, photographs, or other materials;

  • self-plagiarism or inappropriate text recycling;

  • duplicate or redundant publication;

  • presenting another person's work, data, or ideas as one's own; and

  • other forms of academic or publication misconduct that compromise the originality and integrity of the manuscript.

Editorial Action

When problematic similarities are identified, the Editorial Team will evaluate their extent and seriousness.

Minor issues may result in the manuscript being returned to the authors for correction, appropriate paraphrasing, or improved citation. Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, deliberate misappropriation of intellectual work, or other serious ethical violations may be rejected without proceeding to peer review.

If plagiarism or serious publication misconduct is identified after an article has been published, DEVOTION may take appropriate post-publication action, including the publication of a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy.

Authors' Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality and integrity of their submitted manuscripts. All sources used in the manuscript must be properly acknowledged and cited, and authors must obtain appropriate permission for copyrighted materials when required.

By submitting a manuscript to DEVOTION, authors confirm that the work is original and complies with the journal's Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Policy, and other applicable editorial policies.
