Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to PIETAS: Jurnal Studi Agama dan Lintas Budaya must comply with the journal's author guidelines, manuscript template, and publication policies before entering the peer-review process. Each submission undergoes an initial editorial screening to evaluate its relevance to the journal's aims and scope, originality, academic quality, and compliance with ethical and formatting requirements.

PIETAS employs a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process to ensure fairness, impartiality, and academic integrity.

Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The reviewers assess the manuscript based on several criteria, including originality, scientific significance, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, literature review, quality of discussion, validity of conclusions, and the manuscript's contribution to the advancement of knowledge in religious and cross-cultural studies. Reviewers also evaluate compliance with publication ethics and identify any potential plagiarism or research misconduct.

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief will make one of the following editorial decisions:

  • Accept Submission
  • Minor Revisions Required
  • Major Revisions Required
  • Reject Submission

The final publication decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into account the reviewers' comments, the quality of the revised manuscript (if applicable), and the journal's editorial standards. Authors are expected to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers' recommendations and submit a detailed response to each comment during the revision process.
