Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin (JUILMU) is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. All manuscripts submitted to JUILMU must constitute original work, must not have been previously published, and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal.

Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious violation of publication ethics. This includes, but is not limited to, the unattributed use of another author's words, ideas, data, figures, tables, images, or research findings; inappropriate text recycling or self-plagiarism; duplicate publication; and other forms of intellectual misappropriation.

Similarity Screening

All submitted manuscripts are screened using Turnitin or other reliable similarity-detection software as part of the initial editorial assessment. Additional screening may also be conducted during the editorial process or prior to publication when considered necessary.

As a general guideline, manuscripts are expected to have an overall similarity index of no more than 20%, excluding the reference list, properly quoted material, and commonly used expressions where appropriate. However, the similarity percentage is not used as the sole basis for an editorial decision. The Editorial Board evaluates the nature, source, distribution, and context of the identified similarities.

A manuscript with a similarity index below 20% may still be rejected if plagiarism, inappropriate attribution, duplicate publication, or other unethical practices are identified. Conversely, legitimate similarities arising from standardized terminology, methodological descriptions, properly cited quotations, or other academically acceptable sources will be evaluated in context.

Classification and Editorial Actions

Minor Plagiarism

Minor plagiarism refers to limited unattributed copying or inappropriate paraphrasing of words, sentences, or short passages that does not involve substantial misappropriation of another author's ideas, data, or research findings.

Editorial Action:
The manuscript may be returned to the author for correction. Authors will be required to revise the affected sections, provide appropriate citations or attribution, and resubmit the manuscript for further editorial evaluation.

Moderate Plagiarism

Moderate plagiarism involves substantial unattributed use of text, ideas, figures, tables, images, data, or other intellectual content that raises significant concerns regarding the originality or integrity of the manuscript.

Editorial Action:
The manuscript may be rejected. Any subsequent submission by the authors will be considered only after the identified ethical concerns have been adequately addressed and will be subject to the journal's standard editorial evaluation.

Severe Plagiarism

Severe plagiarism includes extensive or deliberate misappropriation of another person's intellectual work, substantial copying of published material without appropriate attribution, duplicate or redundant publication, misrepresentation of authorship or sources, or the presentation of another person's ideas, data, images, or research findings as one's own.

Editorial Action:
The manuscript will be rejected. Where serious publication misconduct is confirmed, the Editorial Board may take further action in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy, including communication with the authors' affiliated institutions, funding organizations, or other relevant parties when appropriate.

Plagiarism Identified After Publication

If plagiarism or other serious ethical misconduct is identified after an article has been published, the Editorial Board will conduct an investigation in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures. Depending on the nature and severity of the case, appropriate corrective action may include the publication of a correction, expression of concern, or retraction of the article.

Authors' Responsibility

All authors are collectively responsible for ensuring the originality, accuracy, and integrity of the submitted manuscript. Authors must properly acknowledge and cite all sources used in their work and obtain appropriate permission for copyrighted material when required.

By submitting a manuscript to JUILMU, the authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with the journal's Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Policy, and Copyright and License Policy. Confirmed violations may result in manuscript rejection, article correction or retraction, and other appropriate editorial actions.
