Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin (JUILMU) is committed to maintaining academic integrity and ensuring that all published articles meet high ethical standards. The journal does not tolerate any form of plagiarism, duplicate publication, or unethical appropriation of intellectual work.

All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity checking as part of the editorial screening process before proceeding to peer review.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the use of ideas, words, data, methods, images, or other intellectual materials from another source without proper acknowledgment or citation.

Plagiarism may occur in various forms, including:

  • Direct Plagiarism
Copying words, sentences, paragraphs, or substantial parts of another work without appropriate quotation and citation.
  • Mosaic Plagiarism
Using phrases, structures, or ideas from other sources by making minor modifications without proper acknowledgment.
  • Self-Plagiarism
Reusing substantial parts of an author's own previously published work without appropriate citation, disclosure, or justification.
  • Data and Image Plagiarism
Using research data, figures, tables, images, or visual materials from other sources without proper permission or acknowledgment.
  • Duplicate or Redundant Publication
Submitting or publishing substantially similar research findings in multiple journals without transparent disclosure.

Similarity Screening

JUILMU conducts similarity checking on all submitted manuscripts using plagiarism detection software to identify potential overlap with previously published materials.

Similarity screening is used as an editorial evaluation tool and does not replace academic judgment. The editorial team evaluates similarity reports carefully by considering the context, citations, and nature of the detected similarities.

Plagiarism Threshold and Evaluation

JUILMU does not determine acceptance or rejection solely based on similarity percentage. Each similarity report is reviewed by the editorial team to determine whether the detected overlap represents legitimate citation, common terminology, or unethical use of published material.

Manuscripts containing significant inappropriate similarities may be rejected or returned to authors for correction before further evaluation.

Actions Against Plagiarism

If plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct are identified, JUILMU may take appropriate actions, including:

  • Requesting clarification or revision from authors.
  • Rejecting manuscripts that contain unacceptable plagiarism.
  • Publishing corrections or expressions of concern for published articles when necessary.
  • Retracting published articles in cases of confirmed serious misconduct.
  • Informing relevant institutions or authorities when required.

Author Responsibility

Authors are fully responsible for ensuring the originality of submitted manuscripts and for properly citing all sources, ideas, data, and materials used in their research.

By submitting a manuscript to JUILMU, authors confirm that their work is original, properly acknowledged, and does not violate the intellectual property rights of others.

Ethical Standards

JUILMU follows internationally recognized publication ethics principles, including recommendations from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), in handling plagiarism and other forms of research misconduct.
