Aims and Scope

DEVOTION: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat is an open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing research, practice, and innovation in the field of community engagement and community development. The journal provides a scholarly platform for publishing evidence-based community engagement initiatives, applied research, knowledge transfer, and collaborative interventions that address societal challenges and contribute to sustainable community development.

DEVOTION publishes original articles in Indonesian and English that demonstrate meaningful connections between scientific knowledge, research findings, professional expertise, technological innovation, and community needs. The journal welcomes contributions from researchers, academics, practitioners, government institutions, non-governmental organizations, and community partners involved in designing, implementing, and evaluating community-based initiatives.

The journal emphasizes community engagement studies that provide clear problem identification, appropriate intervention strategies, stakeholder participation, systematic implementation processes, evidence-based evaluation, and critical reflection on outcomes, sustainability, and broader societal impact.

DEVOTION encourages interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches that support community empowerment, capacity building, social innovation, and sustainable solutions aligned with global development priorities, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Article Criteria

Manuscripts submitted to DEVOTION should provide academic and practical contributions beyond descriptive reports of community activities. Articles should demonstrate:

  • Clear identification of community needs, social context, and development challenges.
  • A strong rationale, conceptual framework, and objectives of the intervention.
  • Appropriate methodology, implementation strategy, and stakeholder engagement process.
  • Systematic evaluation methods and measurable outcomes of the intervention.
  • Critical discussion of impact, limitations, sustainability, and potential replication.
  • Contribution to scientific knowledge, community empowerment, or social innovation.

Publication Priority

DEVOTION prioritizes manuscripts that provide analytical discussion, evidence-based evaluation, and critical reflection on community engagement practices. The journal gives priority to studies that demonstrate measurable impact, sustainability, scalability, and transferable lessons for broader community development.

Manuscripts that only describe community activities without sufficient methodological explanation, outcome evaluation, or evidence of impact may not be considered for publication.
