Authorship and Contribution
DEVOTION: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat recognizes authorship as a responsibility that reflects significant intellectual contributions to the development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of scholarly work. Authorship should be based on substantial contributions rather than academic position, institutional status, or administrative involvement alone.
The journal follows internationally recognized authorship principles and encourages authors to describe individual contributions using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) where applicable.
Criteria for Authorship
To qualify as an author, an individual should have made substantial contributions to one or more of the following aspects:
- Conceptualization: development of research ideas, community engagement frameworks, or program objectives.
- Methodology: design of methods, intervention strategies, implementation approaches, or evaluation procedures.
- Investigation: collection, analysis, or interpretation of research and community engagement data.
- Project Administration: substantial coordination and management of the reported scholarly activities.
- Writing and Revision: drafting the manuscript, critically reviewing, and approving the final version for publication.
- Accountability: responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and ethical aspects of the published work.
Author Responsibilities
All authors listed in a manuscript must:
- Approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.
- Agree to be accountable for their own contributions and the overall integrity of the work.
- Ensure that the manuscript accurately represents the reported research or community engagement activities.
- Disclose relevant funding sources, institutional support, and conflicts of interest.
- Cooperate with the journal during review, revision, correction, or post-publication investigation when necessary.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author acts as the primary contact person between the authors and the Editorial Office. The corresponding author is responsible for:
- Managing communication with the journal during submission, review, and publication.
- Ensuring that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript.
- Providing accurate author information and contribution statements.
- Coordinating responses to reviewer and editor comments.
Author Order and Changes in Authorship
The order of authors should reflect the relative contributions of each author and must be agreed upon by all authors before submission.
Requests for adding, removing, or changing the order of authors after submission must be supported by a clear justification and written approval from all authors. The Editorial Team may request additional documentation before approving any authorship changes.
Unauthorized Authorship Practices
DEVOTION does not accept inappropriate authorship practices, including:
- Guest authorship: listing individuals who have not made meaningful contributions to the work.
- Honorary authorship: including individuals based solely on position, seniority, reputation, or institutional affiliation.
- Ghost authorship: excluding individuals who have made substantial contributions to the work.
Contributor Acknowledgment
Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria may be recognized in the Acknowledgments section with their permission. Examples include administrative support, technical assistance, community partners, funding providers, or other forms of non-author contribution.
Authorship Disputes
DEVOTION encourages authors to resolve authorship disagreements among themselves before submission. If a dispute arises during review or after publication, the journal may request clarification from all involved parties and may refer the matter to the relevant institutions when necessary.
