Correction and Retraction Policy

DEVOTION: Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal provides transparent procedures for correcting, updating, or retracting published articles when errors, ethical concerns, or research misconduct are identified after publication.

All post-publication actions are conducted in accordance with internationally recognized publication ethics principles, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Corrections

Corrections may be issued when errors are identified in a published article that affect the accuracy, clarity, or interpretation of the work but do not invalidate the main findings or conclusions.

Corrections may include, but are not limited to:

  • Errors in author information, affiliations, or metadata.
  • Minor errors in text, tables, figures, or supporting information.
  • Incorrect information that can be corrected without changing the overall validity of the article.

Corrections are published as linked notices associated with the original article. The original article remains available, while the correction notice provides clear information about the changes made.

Expression of Concern

An Expression of Concern may be issued when serious concerns regarding a published article exist but the available evidence is insufficient to justify immediate retraction.

This action may be taken while the journal conducts further investigation or awaits clarification from authors, institutions, or relevant parties.

The Expression of Concern remains linked to the original article to inform readers about the ongoing evaluation process.

Retraction

A published article may be retracted when serious issues are identified that compromise the reliability, integrity, or ethical validity of the work.

Reasons for retraction may include:

  • Fabrication or falsification of data, results, or supporting evidence.
  • Significant plagiarism or duplicate publication.
  • Unethical research or community engagement practices.
  • Major errors that invalidate the main conclusions of the article.
  • Serious authorship, conflict of interest, or publication ethics violations.
  • Manipulation of the peer-review or publication process.

Retraction decisions are made by the Editorial Team after careful evaluation of available evidence and, when appropriate, consultation with authors, reviewers, experts, or relevant institutions.

Retraction Process

When retraction is considered necessary, DEVOTION follows a transparent process:

  • The concern or allegation is assessed by the Editorial Team.
  • Authors may be requested to provide explanations, data, or supporting documentation.
  • Additional expert review or institutional consultation may be conducted when necessary.
  • A final decision is made based on evidence, ethical standards, and publication integrity.

Retraction Notice

Retracted articles remain part of the scholarly record and are not removed completely from the journal archive. Instead, the article is clearly marked as retracted, and a separate retraction notice is published and linked to the original article.

Retraction notices provide sufficient information regarding:

  • The article being retracted.
  • The reason for retraction.
  • The parties involved in the decision, where appropriate.

Post-Publication Responsibility

Authors, readers, reviewers, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report suspected errors, ethical concerns, or possible misconduct related to published articles.

All concerns will be reviewed fairly, confidentially, and objectively to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
