Plagiarism Policy

Educatum: Jurnal Dunia Pendidikan is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, transparency, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing.

All manuscripts submitted to Educatum: Jurnal Dunia Pendidikan must represent original scholarly work, must not have been published previously, and must not be simultaneously submitted or under consideration by another journal.

Similarity Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening as part of the initial editorial assessment before proceeding to the peer-review stage.

Educatum: Jurnal Dunia Pendidikan uses Turnitin or other reliable similarity-detection tools to assist the Editorial Team in evaluating the originality of submitted manuscripts.

As a general guideline, manuscripts are expected to have an acceptable similarity level, generally below 20%, excluding references, bibliography, properly cited quotations, commonly used terminology, and other academically acceptable similarities where applicable.

However, the similarity percentage is not used as the sole basis for editorial decisions. The Editorial Team evaluates the nature, source, extent, distribution, and context of identified similarities to determine whether they represent acceptable academic overlap or potential ethical concerns.

A manuscript with a similarity index below 20% may still be rejected if plagiarism, inappropriate text recycling, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, or other forms of publication misconduct are identified.

Forms of Plagiarism and Publication Misconduct

Educatum: Jurnal Dunia Pendidikan does not tolerate plagiarism or other unethical practices involving the misuse, misrepresentation, or unauthorized reproduction of scholarly work.

Forms of plagiarism and publication misconduct include, but are not limited to:

  • direct copying of another author's words, ideas, arguments, or interpretations without proper acknowledgment;

  • inappropriate paraphrasing, translation, or modification of previous works without adequate citation;

  • unauthorized use of figures, tables, images, instruments, datasets, or other copyrighted materials;

  • self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, redundant publication, or inappropriate text recycling;

  • misappropriation of another person's ideas, unpublished data, or research findings;

  • fabrication or falsification of research data;

  • manipulation or misleading presentation of research findings;

  • citation manipulation or inappropriate citation practices; and

  • other practices that compromise the originality and integrity of the scholarly record.

Editorial Assessment and Actions

Minor Ethical Concerns

Minor ethical concerns may include limited textual overlap, inadequate citation, unclear attribution, or isolated cases of inappropriate paraphrasing that do not substantially affect the originality of the manuscript.

Editorial Action:
The manuscript may be returned to the authors for correction. Authors may be required to revise the affected sections, improve citation practices, and provide appropriate acknowledgment before further editorial consideration.

Substantial Ethical Concerns

Substantial ethical concerns include significant unattributed overlap, extensive inappropriate reuse of previously published materials, serious self-plagiarism, or other practices that raise concerns regarding manuscript originality.

Editorial Action:
The manuscript may be rejected. The Editorial Board may consider further actions according to the severity of the case and relevant publication ethics procedures.

Serious Publication Misconduct

Serious publication misconduct includes extensive or intentional plagiarism, theft or misappropriation of ideas, data, figures, tables, images, or research findings, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, or other serious violations of publication ethics.

Editorial Action:
The manuscript will be rejected. If serious misconduct is confirmed, Educatum: Jurnal Dunia Pendidikan may take further actions according to its Publication Ethics, including contacting authors' affiliated institutions, funding organizations, or relevant parties when appropriate.

Plagiarism Identified After Publication

If plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct are identified after an article has been published, Educatum: Jurnal Dunia Pendidikan will conduct an appropriate editorial investigation.

Depending on the nature and severity of the case, corrective actions may include:

  • publication of a correction;
  • publication of an expression of concern;
  • retraction of the article; or
  • other appropriate editorial measures necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

All post-publication actions will be conducted in accordance with Educatum: Jurnal Dunia Pendidikan's Publication Ethics and internationally recognized principles of responsible scholarly publishing.

Authors' Responsibility

All listed authors share responsibility for the originality, accuracy, and integrity of submitted manuscripts.

Authors must properly acknowledge all sources, verify citations and references, disclose relevant contributions, and obtain permission for copyrighted materials when required.

By submitting a manuscript to Educatum: Jurnal Dunia Pendidikan, authors confirm that the work is original, has not been published elsewhere, is not simultaneously under consideration by another journal, and complies with the journal's Publication Ethics, Plagiarism Policy, and Copyright & License Policy.
