Strengthening the Values of Independence Within the Perspective of Christian Faith to Build a Paradigm of Holistic Church Growth: A Study at GSJKI Muarafajar Congregation

Abstract

This Community Service (PkM) activity was carried out based on the need to strengthen the congregation’s understanding of the values of independence from the perspective of Christian faith and to connect them with the life of the church and social responsibilities. The activity aims to contribute to strengthening the understanding and initial awareness of the congregation, children, adolescents, and young adults of GSJKI Muara Fajar regarding the relationship between Christian faith, the values of independence, and responsibility toward society. The method employed is a participatory-educative approach through seminars, Bible study, discussions, reflection, and evaluation. The activity was conducted on August 23, 2026, involving 50 participants. Evaluation was carried out through a questionnaire covering six indicators: material comprehension, material relevance, presenter quality, activity benefits, participant interaction, and readiness for implementation. Evaluation results showed that 85 percent of participants stated they understood the material, while material relevance reached 98 percent, presenter quality 96 percent, activity benefits 98 percent, interaction 94 percent, and readiness for implementation 95 percent. These findings indicate that the activity made a positive contribution to participants’ understanding and initial awareness of the values of independence from the perspective of Christian faith. This activity can also serve as a foundation for the development of congregation guidance, discipleship, and social service that integrates Christian faith with national responsibility.
